I'm adaptating my current project for my final project for my Quality Control class. The assignment given to our fictional company is to fix the horrible starting project to make it enjoyable for 8 to 12 years old. So, some elements I had originally planned are going to be missing, and others will have to be replaced. For example, no subclass, and some of the graphics (for the menu or enemies, probably) will have to be drawn in Flash in a cartoonish style.

I've almost finished the menu. Goddamn, this is harder than I had thought; multiple windows, multiple "select pointers" are a pain in the ass. I had to use a flag to tell which menu the player is in and another one for the last menu that the player was in... and arrays for the select pointers... about 500 lines of barely understandable code just for the menu, and it isn't complete yet.

When the project is over, I'll probably rethink how the arrays work, make it way easier to use, now that I know exactly how deep this shit is, like having just one big array or perhaps three arrays of just two. I think I'm having a mental breakdown. Hnnnnggghhh.

In other news, I hope to get better with object-oriented programming in Flash. That might help me with rebuilding the game right next time.

I'm making an old school RPG. Graphics are subject to change. Engine currently allows character and NPC movement and menu. Items are soon going to be functional. Of course, the background is also made dynamically using arrays.

Characters have a permanent class and element, chosen by the player. A character also has a subclass that can be changed anytime. Elements and classes will affect the character stats.

I can't say much more at this point. Is this awesome Y/N?

I'm slowly giving up on the BBS. It's a waste of time, trying to be funny, to have some kind of online social life. Nobody cares. General is retarded with all the shit topics and unfunny cunts who need to lurk moar; why can't we have decent topics about philosophy or something? it always has to be about sex, video games or problems with girls. When I stop to think about it, those 3 things are relevant to 13 year olds. But why are they even here? on the BBS? on Newgrounds at all? The threads they make... the mods are doing a fine job, but sometimes I wish they'd lock or delete a few more threads.

Why are 15 year olds and below attracted to Flash? I mean, don't they have better things to do? hang out with friends? study? play some fucking Halo 3? No, instead they like to make shit Flash and write an author comment saying "PLZ DONT BALM - PLZ READ B4 VOTNIG", in vain hopes that they will be able to showcase their fucking pile of elephant diarrhea. No, instead they like to come here and force their dumbassery down our eyes through the appalingly inane posts they shit out.

If I had one thing to say to people who want to start animating, it would be to watch existing animations. Lots of them. To learn Flash, or anything, you need to lurk moar (I don't hate 4chan, I don't love it either). You need to analyze movement, art style, and you also need to experiment and practice.
